The new 2024 Renault Captur will debut in a few months, bringing with it a fresh redesign and features meant to keep the sub-compact crossover competitive. We’ve received an early sneak peek at the changes that the French automaker plans to make, thanks to a set of patent images meant to copyright-protect the design of the car.
These patent images have been turned into accurate and realistic renderings of the 2024 Captur. The images from Kolesa, which show the model from both angles, are thus a good indication of what buyers can look forward to. So, are you going to buy this over a Peugeot 2008 or even the new Dacia Duster?
A whole new front-end design completely changes the look of the Captur. Captur Phase 2, as the French call it, features a flat, futuristic front end similar to the all-new Scenic EV. Much narrower headlights are joined by arrow-shaped LEDs in the lower bumper, while the grille appears to be 3D sculpted rather than a traditional mesh.
However, not all Captur models will look he same. This rendering might serve as a preview for the high-end model with bigger wheels and a sportier design. Most likely the Captur RS Line will be replaced by a new Esprit Alpine model with an aggressive appearance and range-topping trim.
Little else is changed on the outside, where the 2024 Captur only sports a new set of taillighs. Meanwhile, the interior is likely to borrow the latest steering wheel design, a thin twin-spoke look, and a minimalist console.
While many believe the 2024 Captur is just a facelift, Renault has been testing the car for a long time. So it’s possible they will add new engines, most likely shared with the new Dacia Duster. The two share the CMF platform for smaller cars, and on the 2024 Duster, we see virtually all engines have been replaced with a 1.2-liter turbo.
That means the 1.0 TCe and 1.3 TCe are going to be replaced with two new 1.2 TCe versions, rated at 100 and 130 HP. That basically means a downgrade in horsepower, but since Renault already discontinued the 154 hp model, it’s clear crossover buyers aren’t going racing. Of course, the main attraction will continue to be an E-TECH 1.6-liter hybrid powertrain, the most efficient and smoothest powertrain.
