As demand for affordable crossovers continues to grow, Nissan is getting ready to launch an all-new 2025 Kicks. This second-generation model promises to offer a better interior, a more efficient powertrain and the new generation of Nissan design which we haven’t seen on any other vehicle yet.
First, let’s talk about the design. The 2025 Nissan Kicks has just been spotted undergoing testing. Although the prototype was heavily camouflaged, we have a pretty good idea of what Nissan is hiding. That’s because the Japanese scoop website Best Car Web has put together a couple of renderings that we believe to be accurate.
As you can tell, this is an all-new Nissan design. Today, almost all their new cars, crossovers, and pickups have headlights shaped like C-clamps. But the new Nissan design features a “Shield” which integrates the grille and lights into one broad element. It started with the Ariya, followed by the 2023 Pathfinder concept for the Chinese market, which actually previews the Murano, and now the Kicks.
In Japan, this is called the “Serena face” after a minivan they have there. The all-new Kicks will also be based on a new platform, the CMF-B, which is jointly developed with Renault. Thus, it will share underpinnings with the Nissan Note and European models like the Renault Captur and Clio.
Although the basic size will remain about the same, the body of the 2025 Kicks will be slightly longer than the current generation which measures 4,290 mm from bumper to bumper. Best car claims the new model will measure 4300mm long, 1790mm wide, and 1600mm long. It’s basically the same thing, but the interior features a much better design, bigger screens, and improved materials.
2025 Nissan Kicks engines
The engine for the all-new Kicks will change depending on the market. But in Japan, it will come exclusively with e-POWER. This is Nissan’s proprietary technology, an EV with a range extender instead of a large battery.
The motor will be a 1.2-liter producing 82 hp, but it will only work as a generator, feeding the electric drive. The current generation features two motors, one making 136 hp for the front and another one making only 68 hp for the rear axle. The Japanese model will come from Thailand and is expected to cost 3.3 million yen or $22,400.
But the Kicks will be manufactured all over the world, in Brazil, Mexico, China, and Thailand. The US-spec version, the 2025 Kicks, will reportedly begin rolling off the assembly line in a few months. We believe it will come with a downsized turbocharged 1.2-liter engine, producing roughly 125 hp. Expect to pay more than the current $22,000 but get better mileage in return. The Kicks was first presented at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show. However, as a global model, it was already present a year earlier.
