2024 GMC Sierra EV Shows Familiar-Not-Familiar Face in YouTube Artist Rendering

With the GMC Hummer EV already out there flexing and the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV having already been showcased in prototype form, we’re preparing to meet the third GM battery-powered truck, namely the 2024 GMC Sierra EV. Unlike its Chevy brother, the GMC all-electric pickup has merely been teased up to this point, so it’s up to digital artists to paint a more complete picture.

The Hummer brand revival model bets it all on the eccentricity card (here it is drag racing the Durango Hellcat and the G63),. Nevertheless, the Silverado EV and Sierra EVโ€”as with their gas versions, they will share the mechanical sideโ€”are set to offer a more balanced approach.

Even so, the GMC Sierra EV, whose name is still tentative, will offer the lavish Denali trim of the ICE (internal combustion engine) model, but normal versions will also be available, including a base model playing the role of a no-fuss work truck (more on this below).

Not unlike the Ford F-150 Lightning, the Silverado EV and GMC Sierra EV steer clear of an all-futuristic image. The GM offerings are set to mix the traditional truck exterior and interior with sharp elements pointing out to their battery power.

This official teaser-based rendering appears quite accurate

To that end, the digital artist known as SRK Designs, has transplanted the front end treatment released in last December’s Sierra EV teaser to the current 2022 Sierra Denali. As such, the traditional truck now sports virtual elements such as the boomerang-shaped LED headlights, a closed-off front grille and sharp-looking wheels.

Nevertheless, while the Blue Oval’s electric truck shares its platfrom with the ICE version, the Silverado EV and Sierra EV use GM’s dedicated BEV platform, which is called Ultiumโ€”the version used for the duo is slightly smaller than that serving the Hummer.

This mix of new and old is expected to cater to a vast part of the pickup truck clientele. As such, the target audience of the duo seems to favor a practical approach over the more gadget-frenzy image of models coming from younger companies like Rivian, whose R1T is already on the market, and Tesla, which is still working on the Cybertruck. Speaking of which, here’s an all-star truck drag race between the F-150 Lightning, the Ram TRX, the F-150 Hybrid and the Rivian R1T.

The tech side, as announced by Chevrolet

To understand what kind of figures will define the 2024 GMC Sierra EV, we can take a look at the data Chevrolet has released for the 2024 Silverado EV, which is set to land in showrooms in Fall 2023.

The battery-powered truck will offer up to 400 miles (644 km) of range, with a tow rating of up to 10,000 lbs and an output of up to 664 hp. As for the pricing, the base model is set to start at $39,900, while at the other end of the range we’ll find the $105,000 RST.

Sales numbers/expectations? While the F-150 Lightning, which is already on sale, has already reached a few thousand customers, Chevrolet has announced that it has received north of 150,000 reservations for the Silverado EV.
