Lil Baby’s $500,000 Mercedes-Maybach by Virgil Abloh Gets Custom Wheels

The Mercedes-Maybach S 680 by Virgil Abloh is one of the most important luxury cars ever made. Not only is this one of the last V12 German sedans, but it’s also extremely rare, with just 150 examples ever made.

Believed to be worth $500,000-$600,000 each, the Maybach by Virgil often ends up being owned by famous musicians, producers, and influential people. These include DJ Khaled, Alicia Keys, who got it as a gift from husband Swizz Beatz, and Nigerian musician Davido.

However, Lil Baby is perhaps the most famous owner of the Maybach S 680. He’s owned it for a few months, but it was missing from the recent Rick Ross Car Show, where he brought all his other cool rides, and now we know why.

The rapper is a resident of Atlanta, and his favorite local car customizer recently posted these photos of a Virgil Abloh Maybach fitted with custom wheels. Considering there are very few of these in the world, it’s reasonable to jump to the conclusion that Lil Baby has customized his $500,000 limited-edition Mercedes.

These photos were published by Road Show International, which as we said is a shop based in Atlanta, Georgia. They have a pretty long list of modifications to the Virgil Abloh Edition, which include an illuminated trunk lid Maybach logo, smoked lights, tinted windows and windshield, plus ceramic coating for the paint.

However, the biggest change is the new “RS Edition” 22-inch wheels which have been powder-coated “Virgil” and a 20mm lowered suspension package.

Originally, the Virgil edition comes with what’s referred to as “Maybach Exclusive forged” wheels, color-matched to the sand paint of the body. Some people actually hate the design, but we don’t. It’s very retro, reminiscent of the classic monoblock design of the late 80s.

So did Lil Baby mess up customizing his rare Maybach? Not in the least. These multi-spoke alloys are similar to factory designs, including the ones on the Maybach 6 Cabrio concept. We believe that these wheels are not “RS Edition” and are in fact either from designs from the old W222 generation or Forgiatos.

Virgil X Mercedes, a legendary collaboration

The Virgil Edition Maybach remains impressive in every other way. At its core, this is the high-end S 680 model, which means it’s powered by the 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 engine, rated at 621 horsepower. With a 0 to 60 time of 3 seconds, it’s still one of the fastest sedans ever made while setting benchmarks in the luxury department.

Virgil Abloh is an American designer, best known for his role as creative director of Louis Vuitton and his own private label Off-White. He tragically passed away from cancer in 2021, right as this Maybach was preparing for its debut.

He’s considered by many to be a genius product designer, and Mercedes collaborated with him on several projects. It started with Project Geandewagen, which came out in 2020 and looked like a racing G-Class, low to the ground and widened. It was followed up by Project Maybach, a gigantic coupe off-roader with an EV powertrain. Its colors, obsidian black and desert sand, were also let to the S 680.
