Russians have always loved performance SUVs, especially German ones. Back in 2005, a company called Renegade Design began catering to owners of the BMW X5 and X6. Today, there’s a new powerful, luxurious, and obnoxiously designed SUV, the BMW XM, and a Renegade Design carbon fiber kit has been designed specifically for it.
We still remember first seeing Renegade body kits for the Jeep Grand Cherokee or Infiniti FX many years ago. Their love of the widebody look hasn’t changed, but the BMW XM required a more exotic touch: carbon fiber.
The kit is called the Stellar X widebody and is one of the best ways to customize your XM. Renegade promised that only 10 of these kits will ever be manufactured. However, we can’t verify this, and it seems the parts are being sold individually as well.
The pice of the Renegade BMW XM kit is unknown, as it is only available on request. People familiar with the matter say it’s reasonable, and we believe it is somewhere north of $20,000. That’s not bad considering we’re dealing with a $159,000 vehicle.
This is the first Renegade XM we’ve seen in Europe and it was perfectly captured on camera by the folks at RoCars, a popular YouTube channel. As you can see, the SUV was black and has been fitted with dark carbon pieces which are easy to spot.
Several trim pieces in the front bumper were replaced with carbon fiber, including all the air intakes and the LED-illuminated kidney grilles. At the bottom, the XM now sports an aggressive air splitter, and the carbon fender flares give it a beefier look.
The XM aero package also brings new side skirts in the same carbon fiber material, as well as flares for the rear fenders. A revised diffuser is added to the rear bumper. Large forged wheels, modified suspension and large exhaust tips complete the look
This XM is also trying really hard to look like an XM Label Red, given the red badges. But looking at the interior seat trim gives this away as the regular model. There’s a big horsepower and price gap between the two. This being a normal model, it has the twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 and an electric motor making a combined 644 hp. That’s enough for 0 to 62 mph in 4.3 seconds.
Adding a carbon fiber body kit probably doesn’t make the XM any faster. However, there’s no denying Renegade took the most powerful, most expensive BMW SUV to the next level.
