An Icona Series Ferrariโa limited edition line paying homage to Maranello’s classic designsโthat says “no” to the good old Rosso Corsa? That’s precisely what this green Ferrari Daytona SP3 does and, once you take a closer look at the mid-engined Prancing Horse, its reason becomes obvious.
Due to emissions regulations, especially those in Europe, even low-volume carmakers like Ferrari can’t keep N/A V12s alive without battery assistance these days, at least not without having to pay fines for it. So this sort of pure delight is reserved for specials like the Daytona SP3, of which just 599 units are being built.
Production for the SP3 kicked off last year and so far, we’ve seen examples in red, black, silver, yellow, and blue. So, at least to these eyes, this green Ferrari Daytona SP3 is the one that stands out the mostโwe can only imagine what the owner feels when sharing this monster with the world.
The Maranello machine was spotted in Germany (lens tip to Autogespot) and we have to point out that its wheels alone would’ve been enough of an attention magnet. That’s because the dominant green shade is mixed with bronze gold for the wheels and the latter hue is also present on the circlesโa historic form for Ferrari racing numbersโup front and on the doors.
Borrowing the 6.5L V12 of the retiring 812, the SP3 offers 830 hp, while it uses the carbon chassis of the LaFerrari hybrid hypercar. And with a dry weight of 3,274 lbs (1,485 kg), the vehicle can hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in 2.85s and has a top speed of over 211 mph (340 km/h).
Of course, the retro-inspired exterior, and minimalist interior, as well as the said exclusivity is what makes people pay upwards of $2.25 million for one of these Italian exotics.
Green Ferraris are a trend
It’s difficult to gaze at this Daytona SP3 and not think of the shockwave Jamiroquai frontman Jay Kay’s green LaFerrari sent across the internet last decade. It’s worth noting he no longer owns the machine, as this was auctioned off to an unnamed bidder back in 2019.
In fact, green Ferraris are only getting more popular, be it in terms of new cars like this one or classic Prancing Horses. For one, we’ve recently shown you another Ferrari top dog, the iconic F40, which has been resprayed Vede Pallido (that’s Mint Green).
The color can even become a bit ironic if we’re talking about a green Ferrari Testarossa, which is like no other in the worldโafter all, this Miami Vice hero has a name that means “redhead”. And no, it’s not a wrap.
