2025 Porsche Macan EV With 603 Hp and 100 kWh Battery Looks Like a Winner

A new version of the best performance crossover ever made is coming within the next year. That’s right, we’re talking about the 2025 Porsche Macan EV, which will ride on the same electric car platform as the Audi Q6 e-tron and other products from the VW Group.

The Porsche Macan entered production in 2014, and although it was based on the aging Audi Q5 platform, it quickly became known as the best-performance crossover in the world. Its only real competitor at the time was the Mercedes GLA 45 AMG, and while the segment has become more crowded, the Macan remains Porsche’s most popular model.

The Macan is the right size, has a great selection of engines, and that Porsche combination of driving feel and dynamics, which no other automaker seems to match. However, with the discontinuation of the Turbo models, it’s been lacking that savage performance.

The Macan EV could be Porsche’s fastest SUV

The all-new 2025 Macan EV could easily fix that problem. The electric crossover will ride on the new PPE platform, an 800V architecture with brand-new motors and state-of-the-art charging technology. It’s expected to feature a 100 kWh battery pack giving the Macan EV even more range than a Taycan.

We know that the top model will produce 603 hp (611 PS) and 1,000 Nm (738 lb-ft) of torque. Those numbers are way higher than any normal Taycan with a V6 and should belong to the Taycan Turbo or Turbo S. We expect this flagship to cost around $110,000.

Porsche obviously plans to have two or three models below that, with the “Base” Taycan EV costing closer to $80,000 and a GTS or S being the sweet spot in the range with about 500 hp. However, there’s no denying Porsche will struggle to develop and put these models on sale.

Despite high demand, Taycan sales have fallen by 4.7% this year, partly due to the semiconductor shortage. The Macan EV is potentially even more complicated, as it will receive the permanently excited synchronous electric motors (PSM) and silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductors. By splitting the 800V battery in two halves, Porsche engineers promised you will be able to charge at 400V and reach 80% full in under 25 minutes.

New tech is also coming to the chassis, as the Macan EV will feature a new type of dual-valve damper working with PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management). This system will be able to lower the suspension for better handling.

And as for the design, we’re excited to show you the most accurate renderings yet, provided by Kolesa. These images accurately show a sleek, modern design that’s still recognizable as a Macan. The headlight and grille shape resembles the Taycan, while the rear features a wrap-around taillight, similar to a 911 or 718.

We think it’s safe to say Porsche will have another hit on its hands, as every high-end customer in Europe, America, and China will want a Macan EV.
