We have an exciting first glimpse of the basic 2025 Audi A5 Avant. These accurate renderings have been created based on spy photos to digitally reveal the replacement of the A4 and a rival to the C-Class and 3 Series in 2024.
The all-new 2025 Audi A5 Avant is one of the most important cars coming out next year. It replaces the A4 Avant, will be available in the United States, and is one of the last all-new Audis with an internal combustion engine.
That’s right, the A4 will be replaced by the new A5, which will be available as either a sleek fastback with 4/5 doors or a wagon. The A5 Avant will have hints of shooting brake design, even though other Porsche, Mercedes, and VW haven’t found commercial success with body style.
We’ve known all this for several months and we’ve even seen renderings before. But the website Kolesa is giving us an early glimpse into the design of the basic 2025 A5 Avant. Not the S5 or the RS5, but the average A5 with a 2-liter engine. This is important because the A4 Avant was one of the most popular family cars in Europe for the past decade. It needs to be affordable, well-built, and efficient above all else.
Although the sloped roof makes the A5 look less boxy than the A4 Avant, the car is actually longer and will have a larger trunk. At a glance, the car appears to retail the Audi signature look with the same LED lights and singleframe grille. However, there are also modern touches like the flush door handles and the wrap-around taillight.
It’s amusing to see these features paired with the cheapest 18-inch Audi wheels. The basic โฌ45,000 Audi A5 Avant will compete with affordable cars as well, such as the new VW Passat and Skoda Superb.
The 2025 A5 Avant Prototype will seamlessly blend premium German quality and efficiency, boasting cutting-edge technology in both its drivetrain and in-car features. Audi’s progression toward electrification suggests that this upcoming model may embrace the trend, although the fully electric powertrain will be kept for the new A4 e-tron EV.
The engines for the A5 Avant will be market-dependent. In Europe, the most popular choice will continue to be the 2.0 TDI which will be available in a variety of mild-hybrid versions ranging from 136 hp (30 TDI) to 163 HP (35 TDI) and 204 hp (40 TDI). The TFSI motors also be hybrids, and at least one will be a plug-in, most likely the 300 hp model called the 50 TFSIe. Meanwhile, in America, the only 2025 A5 engine available is the 2.0 TFSI making 220 hp or about 270 hp, depending on the model.
Of course, performance models are also being developed. According to an old report from Evo Magazine, the S5 and S5 Avant will still have a V6 engine, a new 2.9-liter TFSI. While this twin-turbo V6 used to be reserved for the RS4, there is a perfect de-tuned version already available in the Porsche Macan GTS. Expect about 380 hp.
While the renders don’t reveal the interior design, expectations are high, reflecting Audi’s unwavering dedication to its cabin design. Anticipate state-of-the-art infotainment systems, advanced driver assistance features, and premium materials.
