Ford Focus RS Hardcore Widebody Kit by Hycade Looks Like the Ultimate Hot Hatch

Most of Ford’s high-performance vehicles are either Baja-ready off-roaders or muscle cars. However, the company also built one of the most interesting hot hatchbacks of all time, the Focus RS. This 3D digital makeover for the Mk3 Focus RS aims to unlock its full potential and deliver a rival to the Audi RS3.

The Focus RS is one of the most interesting cars Ford ever made, and we believe it’s going to become a hot collectible within the next decade. The Mk3 generation sold in relatively low numbers between 2016 and 2018.

What makes the Focus RS special? Well, nowadays, the most expensive hot hatchbacks have drift mode because they compete in terms of price with the BMW M2 and Porsche Cayman. Both the new Golf R and the Audi RS3 have special AWD systems which can send a lot of power to one rear tire, forcing a drift. Cool right? Well, the Focus RS offered this feature first.

It was a really exciting car with a hardcore suspension setup and a naughty 2.3-liter turbo engine. From a performance point of view, the only thing that really held it back was the standard manual gearbox. It’s great for enthusiastic driving, but now for drag racing.

Nowadays, Ford has automatics that are good enough to put on a hot hatch, so a more extreme Focus RS could have been developed. Of course, that will never happen, since the Mk4 Focus will be discontinued soon, even from the European market.

This leaves the Mk3 Focus RS as the only possible choice for a hyper hatch transformation. You already know who this is by, Hycade, the 3D rendering artist behind ultra widebody Audis, BMWs, VWs, and other machines which rock the digital world.

Focus RS Hardcore Kit

The Focus RS already has a factory widebody kit, and its mechanical architecture is different from a normal Focus hatchback which never comes with AWD. But Hycade has basically reinvented the car.

The process starts at the front with the trademark features Hycade puts in all his rendering. The Focus RS gets a revised front bumper with a much deeper chin spoiler and a carbon fiber splitter. The air vents next to the headlights let you know this body is about 4 inches wider at the front. Also, the main grille has a more complex design, and a carbon fiber hood is digitally added, complete with large race car vents.

Down the sides, we have carbon side skirts and a rear widebody that completely blocks the rear doors. The Focus RS is built like the WRC rally car it was always meant to be and as such has a gigantic wing towering over the trunk. The rear diffuser doesn’t go all the way to the bottom, but we have some lovely titanium “heat blue” exhaust tips and 3D LED taillights.

That’s the full extent of the cosmetic changes. The powertrain is unknown, but the 2.3-liter can be rebuilt to around 600 horsepower. If Ford ever made a car like this, collectors would be all over it, just like the Escort Cosworth.
