1969 Camaro Z/28 “Ruined Classic” by Adry53 Is a Pearl Green Widebody Dream with Zoomies

When it comes to the most iconic muscle car classics, the consensus seems to be that you’re not supposed to change anything. However, digital artist Adry53 loves to ruin a good classic, and that’s what he’s done to this 1969 Chevy Camaro, set on zoomie exhausts, painted pearl green and widened like a bodybuilder on steroids.

And you know what? It’s not ruined at all, both because this isn’t a real car, and also due to the transformation being amazing. Adry53 has a pretty long series of renderings called “RuiNeD cLasSiC”, named after the rage comments you most often find on muscle car renderings.

Yes, some cars are sacred, but if nobody did anything custom, there would be nothing to talk about. No big-block swaps. No George Barris. No SEMA.

And I certainly feel like one day, a “Ruined Classic” is going to become a SEMA build. Adry53 has been working on this series for a while, putting his favorite mods into digital versions of famous, but also reclusive cars, like the 1953 Buick Convertible.

Until today, his blown 1970 Cuda was my favorite ruined Adry creation. However, this Camaro takes it to the next level with its amazing widebody kit and paint. For some reason, you rarely see pearl paint in renderings. Maybe you need a great PC to render the texture, but it certainly brings visual impact.

Only the best American car painters would be able to lay down this kind of green, which probably requires several silver base coats before the pearl. And were it not for the obscene widebody, this might have been a contender for the Ridler a few decades back.

Modern aero, classic dragster

The 1969 Camaro appears to have Z/28 badging, which makes the widebody conversion revolting to some. It doesn’t look like the classic all-metal fabrication, as the fender flares have a bolt-on look, similar to an S15 drift car. Not only that, but the 53-year-old Chevy gains a modern aero bumper with an adjustable splitter and side scoops that resemble an AMG GT Black Series.

Things get even wilder down the side, where eight zoomie exhaust tips have just enough room next to the widebody. Adry53 probably referenced them from normal trucks, or the monster trucks he’s become so fond of. But strange side-exit pipes also appeared in the gasser era.

Finally, this Camaro Z/28 also tries to look like a race car. The rear end sports a diffuser to help glue those massive tires to the road. Meanwhile, Nascar-style window nets let you know that entry is done through the windows because the doors don’t open. If you’re into the smallest of details, you might have also seen the hood pins, also a race car feature.

The Ruined Classic series is designed to outrage with wild rendered modifications. But isn’t that the point of art, to make you think and see things differently? No Camaros were hurt in the making of these images, and we honestly feel like a twin-turbo system could have also been included.
