Big trucks are an essential part of the American economy and they’re also great for recreational jobs. As the demands placed upon it grow, Ford is developing a new 2023 Super Duty pickup, which has everybody talking after it was spotted undergoing testing.
A few days ago, the 2023 Ford Super Duty was spotted undergoing testing with a lot less camouflage than usual, which revealed its most important upgrade. The new model year is technically a facelift, so most of the cosmetic changes are going on at the front.
The new-look appears to be influenced by other Ford trucks in the lineup. Yes, that includes its F-series kid brother the F-150, but mostly the Maverick and the next-gen Ford Ranger. The familiar twin bars of a Super Duty defines the two section of headlight with an indicator in the middle. Designers also added a large section of white LED around it, shaped like a C-clamp, an element that resembles the daytime running lights of the Lightning.
Digital artist/car designer TheSketchMonkey took it upon himself to crack the 2023 Ford Super Duty mystery in one of his YouTube rendering videos. In this case, it’s simply a question of taking all the elements from the spy photos and using them on a 2022 model.
Lights look like a King Ranch logo
The result is still pretty surprising because of the way the new hood steps down into the grille area. It’s not the cleanest rendering he’s ever made, but it’s good enough to understand what Ford is doing.
The sides of the truck will remain the same. Of course, the Super Duty family has all kinds of different configurations, which right now range from a super-cheap F-250 XL with a 6.2-liter for $39,000 all the way to a $100,000+ F-450 dually with a Power Stroke.
At the rear, Ford is just going to install updated taillights, though there might be some functionality options. The interior will be set up to look more like the F-150, so you are going to have new seats, and nicer door cards, in addition to the 12-inch display they just put in for 2022. It’s rumored that you will be able to buy BlueCruise too.
Some sources believe Ford has just updated the Super Duty and will thus carry over all engines to the next model year. However, our info suggests there may be a new Super Duty hybrid with an onboard generator. It could be a game-changer and hopefully also a reliable way to get your towing done.
