While its Dodge siblings received all sorts of supercharged HEMI flavors, the Chrysler 300 never made it past the naturally aspirated 6.4L HEMI of the SRT model. Then again, this can always become an asset for builders gifting 300s with Hellcat muscle and their customers. Case in point with NBA rising star Isaiah Jackson, who is currently in the process of having such a Chrysler prepared for him.
Born in Detroit, a city that knows a thing or two about making cars, 20-year-old Jackson is now in his second year of rookie contract. The player was brought into NFL in 2021 by the Los Angeles Lakers and traded to the Indiana Pacers. Having already delivered some impressive moves, Jackson has serious ambitions for this summer and, apparently, these extend beyond the court.
To be more precise, if the build we have here goes according to plan, the young talent should have his Hellcat-ized 300 ready in a few weeks from now.
The vehicle is being put together by Khaled Alsalman (aka Khal_SRT). The builder, who has a strong social media presence, is no stranger to impressive Mopar swaps.
The enthusiast’s portfolio saw him whipping up a Hellcat 300 that went to rapper Lil Baby. Naturally, the next step was to gift such a Chrysler with Hellcat Redeye goodies for the full 797 horsepower. However, that kind of muscle might seem less impressive than it is when compared to another one of the man’s builds.
We’re referring to Alsalman’s Hellephant-wielding 300, which we discussed last month. The sedan sports the mother of Mopar crate engines, namely a 426 ci (7.0L) supercharged HEMI making 1,000 hp and 950 lb-ft (1,288 Nm) in factory form. And if you’re wondering how such a four-door would stack up against a supercar, we’ll remind you the said story sees the Chrysler duking it out with a Lamborghini Aventador.
The widebody wheels and tires will stick out a little bit
For the NBA rising star’s Chrysler 300, the builder is using a widebody Charger Hellcat as a donor car. The latter recently invited the player to check out the Dodge, whose status is owed to a serious crash. Then again, as Alsalman explains in the video, these high-horsepower machines are in short supply these days, as one would expect in the current market.
Now, despite the Charger having been wrapped around a tree, with the damage going all the way to the transmission tunnel, the vital components for the transplant (e.g., engine, gearbox, suspension, and brakes) seem to be in good condition.
In the video below, you’ll see Alsalman walking Jackson through the various options of the build. And, given that the latter’s Chrysler 300 comes in red, it seems that the SRT leather seats are getting a new white finish with black logos.
The basketball player wants to keep the 300 dashboard, so the vehicle will only get the Charger Hellcat instrument panel and, of course, the infotainment, complete with the SRT Performance Pages allowing the driver to track the go-fast numbers of the vehicle.
The engine already features a JLT cold air intake and a catless exhaust, which means that the soundtrack will easily give away the extra muscle lurking under the hood.
