Don’t get too excited guys, but Tj Hunt just announced a StreetHunter lineup of parts for the all-new 2022 Subaru BRZ. These are early days, so details and pricing are somewhat lacking, but the good news is they’re affordable goodies.
Tj Hunt probably needs no introduction if you’re into JDM cars. He’s had a number of interesting build videos on the old Toyobaru platform that basically made him famous. So it’s no surprise that he’s targetting the 2022 Subaru BRZ.
About two and a half years ago, he started a body kit company called StreetHunter and it created a solid reputation with a widebody kit for the C8 Corvette, which was brand new at the time. The Toyota Supra was next, and recently, StreetHunter fitted the first-ever widebody kit to a 2023 Nissan Z which competed in Formula Drift. Yes, I’m talking about Chris Forsberg’s GT-R-swapped 400Z.
From what we can gather, the parts for the BRZ are also going to fit the GR86. A whole catalog will be available, but none of them fit the “widebody” description. They’re just skirts and spoilers.
The first component to be made available is going to be a trunk lid spoiler. It’s done in the ducktail spoiler, can be ordered in FRP or carbon fiber, and costs from $600. Side decals for the bottom of the doors and a front license plate delete are also being offered, and they’re pretty cheap.
In the next few months, StreetHunter is going to 3D-print and fabricate other parts. They’ll include front lip, side skirt extensions/caps, rear bumper caps, front fender garnish, and front license plate delete. Given the popularity of the BRZ/GR86, I suspect other bits will follow, potentially a widebody as well.
In case you forgot, the GR86 has a different front bumper with a taller grille. However, there are also changes under the skin like different suspension tuning and aluminum front knuckles. Both cars are putting down 228 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque from a 2.4L 4-cylinder boxer
And in case this isn’t to your liking, know that the first Pandem/Rocket Bunny 2022 Subaru BRZ has been built and looks totally awesome. But it costs considerably more to install and may not be as reversible.
