The First Pandem 2022 Subaru BRZ Widebody Looks Almost Ready

We’re pretty excited about the new 2022 Subaru BRZ. For some reason, dealer markups aren’t as crazy as with other sports cars, so you can pick one up for about $35,000. The normal thing to do would be to enjoy it as it is, but most BRZ and 86 owners have opted for at least one custom part.

The most extreme thing to do if you’ve got a big budget is the full transformation of a widebody kit. This means not only buying an expensive set of bumpers, but also new suspension components.

Many widebody options exist, including the Kuhl package that we brought you from the Tokyo Auto Salon. However, Pandem/Rocket Bunny remains the golden standard for the Toyobaru community, and that should extend to the 2022 Subaru BRZ.

The photos Pandem releases are always renderings at first, so we wanted to see what the widebody 2022 BRZ looks like. And we found the first example in the USA. A group called Glow Gang is using the pack in combination with ESR wheels and Bag Riders suspension. This is that car.

The video below details what you can expect from your BRZ/GR86 build, starting with the delivery and unboxing. Unsurprisingly, the Pandem kit looks well made, and there are a few nice surprises here.

For example, the front fenders ($1,050) replace the factory ones; they’re not bolt-ons. The new bumper looks fit for any real race car project and it can be paired with a large splitter that goes up the sides (they’re canards).

The parts for the sides are quite complicated as well and include side canards for $200, skirts for $800 and the obvious rear fenders ($800). These require you to drill into the car’s metal and cut a small section out. Go wide or go home!

We like how the rear arch is now squared. As for the very back of the car, Pandem opted to offer a new bumper and a rear wing which is optional. Together, all these parts cost $6,100. But there’s obviously a labor cost involved. And it’s pointless to go widebody without dropping at least $5,000 more for the lowered suspension, bigger tires and wheels.

Update: As you can see, she’s done. After the widebody fitment was complete, Glow Gang spent a lot of time fiddling with the suspension system to get it sitting right. And a full wrap was the quickest way to get a custom look. White and black obviously brings the stormtrooper theme into focus, but the first Pandem 2022 Subaru BRZ is a build that stands out on its own.
