Tesla Cybertruck Destroys Hummer EV in Full Cyberbeast Drag Racing Spec

Hummer EV vs Tesla Cybertruck! That’s going to be the biggest battle in 2034, isn’t it? And Tesla has fully prepared its electric pickup for drag racing against the 1000 horsepower electric pickup from GM.

Earlier this week, Mat Watson from the UK channel Carwow was at the Texas Gigafactory for the launch of the all-new Cybertruck. Conveniently, Tesla had a Hummer EV for benchmarking. This next drag race proves which of these two is the fastest pickup you can buy in 2024. Spoiler alert: it’s the Tesla.

Tesla themselves have already put the Hummer up against the Cybertruck on their official channel. However, they only did a tractor-pull test. Drag racing is much more common as a form of motorsport. But before we tell you the results, let’s look at the specs.

This version of the Cybertruck is called a Cyberbeast. The normal AWD version comes with 600 hp, while this gets three motors giving it 845 hp, which is enough for 0 to 60 in 2.6 seconds and a top speed of 130 miles per hour. If you have a reservation, it can be yours for $99,990.

The Hummer EV pickup also has three electric motors and produces 1000 horsepower. However, its 0 to 60 mph is only 3.3 seconds. Famously, its top speed is electronically limited to 106 mph, mainly due to the tires. The gap doesn’t sound that big, but this independent test by Carwow reveals a huge difference.

Despite being down on power, the Cybertruck pulls several lengths ahead of its rival. With a 1/4-mile time of 11.2 seconds, it pretty much matches Tesla’s claims. The Hummer took 12 seconds to get there.

Why is the Cybertruck faster?

It starts with the launch. Using a special Cheetah-like stance, the EV lowers itself for better traction. But after that, it continues to pull ahead. This suggests there isn’t actually a 155 horsepower advantage for the Hummer.

Better engineering is obviously an advantage too. The Cybertruck weighs 2,599 pounds less than a Hummer EV. It’s down to the aluminum casting used by Tesla in the chassis. The Hummer also has the biggest EV battery in the world at 246 kWh. Meanwhile, Elon’s baby is estimated to have about 125-130 kWh.

The Hummer EV did beat the Tesla in the brake test from 70 mph. That has to be the first thing a Cybertruck has ever lost. After all, it did just drag race a Porsche while towing another Porsche.
