Volkswagen ID Buzz Adventure Camper Conversion Has Air Suspension and Beadlock Wheels

The 2025 Volkswagen ID Buzz was finally revealed on June 2, 2023. We’re talking about the version for the American market, which is longer and more powerful than the European model. The all-electric Bus is coming to the US next year and will undoubtedly be popular with tuners and fans of SEMA builds.

Their versions of the ID Buzz only have 200 horsepower, but the Europeans definitely have a head start and some have already begun to modify the EV. We predict several body kits will be available, as well as overland conversions. But for now, we’re just going to focus on the most interesting ID Buzz camper conversion, which we found in Germany.

Volkswagen already knows people want EV campers. It offers the ID Buzz with an optional raised trunk floor which when the rear seats are folded turns into a completely flat surface. Put a mattress over that and you have an instant bed. However, camper conversions are all about adding technology and true comfort features.

Air suspension wouldn’t be the first requirement for a camper, even though it’s useful. However, this ID Buzz is both an off-road adventure vehicle and a show car, one of the first to be converted in such a way.

ID Buzz air suspension is self-leveling

The vehicle, now dubbed ID Buzz Adventure, belongs to Dominik from Freundship. And it’s recently received an air ride upgrade from Streetec, a company that is part of the famous Null Bar brand. Specifically for this vehicle, they used the D121 air suspension kit, with costs starting at โ‚ฌ2,800. It completely replaces the standard damper and spring combo with twin air bladders at each corner. Hopefully, they’re up to the challenge, as the Buzz’s batteries make it as heavy as a G-Class.

You can’t have air suspension without new wheels, and this ID Buzz rides in pure Overlander style thanks to a set of “KlassikB” aluminum rims from delta4x4. These are beadlock wheels with integrated rim protection and a satin black finish. The VW adventure EV also has new off-road rubber: 255/55 R18 from Loder Tires.

Another easy way to make the ID Buzz interesting is to do a wrap. This one is also adventure-themed and features grey gradients and minimalist mountain patterns.

Sleeping is done not in the trunk but on top of the car, thanks to a pop-out tent mounted to the roof rails. There are also other accessories. So what’s inside? A kind of workbench with wood countertops, an enduro bike, and a mini kitchen with a mini sink and double gas burners.
