The best performance or luxury SUVs in Europe have bespoke body kits they’re associated with. The AMG G63 has Brabus, BMWs get Hamann kits and the Novitec kit makes even the Rolls-Royce Cullinan look appealing. But not the Alfa Romeo Stelvioโฆ until now.
The Alfa Romeo Stelvio is one of the coolest small SUVs on the planet. Even the normal model with a 2.0-liter turbo feels special to drive. However, the Quadrifoglio performance model is a real beast, fast, sexy and powered by a “Ferrari engine.”
The 2.9-liter bi-turbo motor under the hood is a Ferrari-tuned 90-degree V6, basically 3/4 of the V8 they’d put in one of their mid-engined supercars. It makes 503 horsepower right from the factory, and that’s enough to compete with the best BMW and Mercedes had to offer in this segment.
This spicy Italian dish has been in production since 2017, and even though we’re talking about a world-famous SUV praised by most of the major magazines, it doesn’t get much attention from the aftermarket industry. Which is quite shocking for a car that reaches 62 mph in 3.8 seconds.
This custom body kit by SD Carbon takes the Stelvio to the next level, letting parents know they should keep kids away from this thing and telling activists this SUV drinks too much dinosaur juice. But hey, life is too short to drive boring cars!
Now, we couldn’t find much information about SD Carbon as a company, so there isn’t a lot that can be said about their reputation as a builder. Their contact phone number is out of China, but we wouldn’t hold that against them, especially when the kit is about $6,000. There’s a walkaround video of a Stelvio Quadrifoglio in the UK, so we know it’s not fake. But you obviously need a decent body man to make a custom kit fit right.
For the craziest Alfa Stelvio owners
The most obvious changes to the Italian SUV are those fender flares, which add at least 3 inches to either side of the vehicle in a very bold, in-your-face way. The flares are very flat, like they’ve been designed for a 1980s Fiat, and that should put the spotlight on the Alfa.
To make the fenders match the rest of the car, SD Carbon also had to install flares on the rear doors and inserts for the front bumper that wrap all the way around the chin spoiler. This ends with a carbon chin splitter, which matches the carbon on the side skirts.
At the back, the Stelvio SUV receives a carbon trunk lid spoiler and another small spoiler right below the wiper. It’s got a redesigned diffuser that integrates new, larger exhaust tips. The red car in the video, which belonged to Team Deranged, has also been tuned, so it now makes 600 horsepower.
Of course, you can’t go widebody without changing the wheels too. Multiple Stelvios have been fitted with the SD Carbon package. Some of them have big version of the classic Alfa telephone dial while Deranged’s Quadrifoglio rides on big Vossen wheels.
