75 mph (120 km/h) is a decent speed on land, but when you’re doing that in the water, chances are you’re one of the fastest people in the area. And this XSMG-made XSR48 is the kind of speedboat that can hit such impressive numbers.
The British producer turned to designers Fabio Buzzi and Redman Whiteley Dixon when creating the XSR48, while also joining forces with marine composite specialist SP-High Modulus. Now, if the name of the maker sounds familiar, it could be because you’ve seen this model’s big brother, the 1,600 hp interceptor, on Top Gear about a decade ago.
This example was built back in 2020 and the specs are quite something. So the Lamborghini shade of orange (it’s part of the supercar builder’s Arancio range of hues) is a great way to be visible out there in this 48-feet vessel. We also need to mention carbon fiber, which is used for the exterior air intakes and flagpole.
Motivation is provided by a pair of 6.7-litre FPT N67 570 EVO straight-six turbo diesel marine engines. These offer a combined 1,040 hp and work with ZF 280 marine transmissions. And, to harness that kind of power, the machine features a carbon Kevlar hull with dedicated stabilization features.
For the record, the 65-knot (75mph) maximumvelocity is accompanied by a cruising speed of 45 knots (55mph), while those engines sip diesel form a 1,100-litre fuel tank.
As for the accomodation, the carbon Ullman seats sport orange and carbon-finish leather, there’s an Alcantara lining, a carbon Techman toilet, a carbon bar, along with a double berth in the bow, a night heater and others.
The speedboat seems to be in proper shape
The vessel is currently listed up for grabs on the Collecting Cars British auction site. The engines have only completed around 60 hours of service.
And the seller mentions that the hull has no structural damage, with the only issues reportedly being cosmetic: the lower body blemishes and the paint graze on the port side, along with a bit of wear and rear around the deck and the cabinโyou can check it all out in the video below.
The highest bid at the time of this writing sat at ยฃ155,000 ($189,287 or โฌ179,676). However, you can expect the final sum to be considerably greater, while still in the six-figure range.
