G3 Project by JP Performance Is a $350,000+ Golf 3 With a Mid-Mounted Audi V10

About a week ago,ย Jean Pierreย Kraemer of JP Performance unveiled three brand-new builds at the 2023 Essen Motor Show. There was Rocket Bunny Nissan 200SX, aka a Boss Silvia, an awesome GT-R, and this thing. It’s a mid-engined art car in the shape of a Golf 3 with the heart of an Audi R8.

We’ve known about it for some time, ever since it was just a crazy Instagram rendering, in fact. However, new details have emerged, including the potential price of the build, which rivals true supercars: โ‚ฌ300,000 just for fabrication.

G3 Project, or #G3V10 as you’ll find it online, started life as a rendering by Andreas Richter (AR Visual) more than a year ago. JP liked it and tasked Prior Design with the fabrication. They had about 10 months to fabricate the car and it’s only about 80% done when presented in Essen. Many people have worked countless overtime hours to get it to this point.

Andreas Belzek, the founder of Prior Design, recently revealed to us that G3 is one of the most difficult projects they’ve ever done. Although they started with a Golf 3 donor car, almost nothing was kept. The 3D model was finished in about 3 months, and there were numerous unknowns, from the opening of the hood to the placement of the side sills.

How much does JP’s Golf 3 V10 project cost?

G3’s chassis is a tubular kit car that doesn’t have anything to do with the Golf 3. When asked about the cost, Andreas revealed that the CNC milling, new body, design, all the spoilers, and all the planning cost about โ‚ฌ300,000. We don’t know if that includes the engineering work from Speed Engineering and Parare GmbH, not to mention this awesome mint green paint by Colorkraft or the Rotiform forged NFN wheels.

So it’s pretty safe to say JP spent at least $350,000 turning a Golf 3 into a supercar. Which is pretty funny considering it has Hella headlights just like the Jetta from The Fast and The Furious. But the good news is there might be a Golf 3 widebody kit designed for the street after this monster.

As for the powertrain, JP hasn’t revealed anything. However, we can see it’s an Audi version of the V10 based on the injectors, plus it’s from the R8 supercar based on the transmission and prop shaft locations. It will also be (at least) twin-turbocharged soon because blow-off valves are installed into the new exhaust system. Is 1000 hp enough? Maybe 1500 hp, just to make sure.
