Hoonicorn vs. The World Season 2 is shaping up to be an epic drag racing YouTube event. A new generation is getting hooked on motorsport, partly because the 1400 hp Ford Mustang is being handed over to Ken Block’s 14-year-old daughter.
This might have something to do with Ken now being partnered with Audi rather than Ford. But you can’t put twin-turbos on the e-tron GTโฆ because it’s electric. And he’s been teaching her the ropes and 14YO Lia raced in the Lucas Off-Road Racing Series three years back, plus she’s well acquainted with the AWD Mustang.
Still, that’s 14 years and 1400 horsepower, or 100 horsepower per year. And it’s a brutal speed machine that only loosely resembles an old pony car. The all-custom is made from exotic materials has fully custom everything and its twin-turbo V8 muscles its way to 1400 horsepower, which is enough to torture all four wheels. That’s how the Hoonicorn is good for everything from slides to going up Pikes Peak and, of course, drag racing.
Even so, the modern shapes of a Ferrari still make it look faster and more expensive, even though it might not be. More on that later. The car is an F12 brought over by Damon Fryer of Daily Driven Exotics, described in this video as “the internet’s most hated supercar owner”. That kind of depends on your perspective, but he’s certainly controversial.
Ford v Ferrari, V8 v V12, AWD v RWD
Normally, the 6.3-liter V12 under its hood breathes freely and makes 731 horsepower. But after twin fidget spinners have cut their way through that expensive hood, the Ferrari produces more than 1000 hp. Penalties are paid in other departments, though. For example, the F12 doesn’t have AWD of the upcoming Purosangue and it weighs about 800 lbs more than the Ford.
So about the raceโฆ yeah, this can only go one way when you’re pouring methanol into a race car. The outcome is kind of funny if you think about it. The man who spent hours talking trash and arguing with police officers got his butt handed to him by a 14YO girl.
