Tri-Five Chevy models have always been extremely popular, since they are among the most beautiful cars America has ever made. But this 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air “Rose Gold” restomod takes things to Rolls-Royce levels in terms of both price and quality.
Vanguard Motors has some of the most expensive vintage cars currently on sale with prices that usually match auction records. However, even for them, $249,900 is a lot of money to ask for a Bel Air. So we immediately began to suspect that this is a special car.
And VIN VC55L068117 does indeed belong to a famous build. This is Rose Gold, sometimes called the Rolex of Bel Airs because of its color combination, which is intentional. This is the work of Ralph Holguin of RMD Garage, who’s built a number of famous 50s restomods including some for celebrities out of their Long Beach shop.
In short, the color is achieved through copper paint with a touch of pearl on top to give it that metallic rose gold color. The triple-platinum silver on the top and trunk work like the strap you sometimes get on a two-tone luxury watch. Of course, there are many more details here, like the fact that it’s got California-style bumpers, the flush-fitting Kindig-It door handles, hidden wiper, and an emblem delete.
The highlight has to be that hidden fuel filler cap behind the mechanized taillight. What is this, a Tesla? The tan leather interior is full of custom touches but still has some of that 50s retro magic left.
We assure you that it doesn’t go like anything made in 1955. Inside a manicured engine bay sits a Chevrolet Performance LS3 6.2-liter 376/480hp engine with an ATI front-runner pulley kit, MagnaFlow headers exhaust system, and GM 4L60 automatic 4-speed overdrive transmission. Underneath, it’s got a Currie differential, a fully boxed stock frame, Heidts 4-link suspension, QA1 coilover struts and tubular control arms.
Everything is basically perfect, and the color combination is fit for Rick Ross. But is it worth $250,000? You be the judge of that. But what the heck, this thing is the cover of RMD Garage’s car show on Amazon!
